This article is for all stubborn blender mixtures and blenders that cannot go through a washing machine wash. Note that it is best to clean the blender while the mixer is still liquid, but if you’re in a hurry or starting off these instructions with dry residue in the blender, no worries; we have instructions for that too. Let us begin the instructions for an efficient wash!
Cleaning the container:
Blend water and dish soap for an efficient clean (make sure the lid is secure), or if you have no time, let water and soap sit in the container and then rinse clean.
If a tint is left in the container, let the bleach sit in the container for two hours and repeat washing it with water and dish soap.
If you would rather not use bleach to remove the stains, lemon can also be used. Fill the blender halfway with water, half a chopped-up lemon, and some dishwasher soap. Blend the mixture for two minutes.
If you do end up having to clean a dried mixture, use a rough sponge, steel wool, or a toothbrush, depending on the strength of the mixture. Put a bit of water and dish soap into the blender, and then chip away at the stains with your scrubbing tool until they disappear.
Cleaning the base:
Do not wash the base directly! The base houses the electronic motor and control system for the appliance. These parts will not stand well to extended moisture exposure. Keep your cleaning efforts to the exterior, and absolutely do not submerge the whole base in water.
Wipe down the base. Soak a sponge or towel in warm, soapy water, and then wring it out until it is damp. Gently run the fabric over the base of the blender to clean off any places where food or liquid has spilled.
Like the container, it’s best to clean the base before the mixture dries. The base is more difficult to clean once blended food and liquids have been caked onto the surface. Certain substances might become sticky as they dry, and others might even stain the material!
Use a Q-tip to clean the control buttons. If there is a buildup of blended gunk in the cracks around the blender’s control interface, then it might be hard to get everything out with a sponge. Use a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to wipe around the gunky buttons. The rubbing alcohol should dissolve the mixture. The rubbing alcohol should dry quickly and evaporate. If any moisture remains on the blender base, wipe it away with a dry towel.
Cleaning the lid and other smaller components:
Remove and clean separately the lid, gasket seal, and blade. Hand-wash everything carefully with dish soap and hot water. Scrub with a sponge or toothbrush to remove tough bits. After rinsing each part well, dry them off with a microfiber towel.
Make sure to apply these tips according to the blender manufacturer’s instructions for better use of your blender.
